Liverpool transfer news today: Liverpool CONFIRM five deals as record-breaker LEAVES
Here is all the news from a busy deadline day for Liverpool, with a whole host of their young stars departing for the season.
Bajcetic to Salzburg
Arne Slot has explained what Liverpool plan to do with Stefan Bajcetic in the future after he completed his move to Red Bull Salzburg.
The 19 year-old Spaniard enjoyed a meteoric rise to the first team as one of the bright spots in an underwhelming 2022/23 season for the Reds, appearing 19 times and scoring a memorable goal against Aston Villa before suffering a season-ending injury issue that ended his debut campaign and severely affected his playing time last season as well.
Now Bajcetic will join up with ex-Liverpool coach Pep Lijnders as well as several key backroom staff from the Jürgen Klopp era, as well as former teammate Bobby Clark who has recently joined the Austrian side on a permanent deal.
Record-breaker Gordon loaned out
A Liverpool player who was a record-breaking member of Jürgen Klopp’s victorious League Cup squad in 2022 is now about to depart.
After making his Reds debut against Norwich in that victorious Carabao Cup campaign, young winger Kaide Gordon went on to become Liverpool’s youngest ever goalscorer in the FA Cup just a few months later against Shrewsbury.
There have been links with a whole host of Championship clubs who expressed interest in taking the 19 year-old on loan, and now we have our answer as to where Gordon is set to play his football this season.
Phillips also out on loan
Liverpool’s Nat Phillips has left for Derby County on loan, according to the latest reports.
Phillips has now received the ‘green light’ for his departure, as the defender searches for consistent game time.
Kelleher stays
Goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher has remained at Liverpool after the transfer window closed.
Rumours of a move away from Anfield for the 25-year-old have circulated in recent weeks, with Liverpool purchasing another goalkeeper in Giorgi Mamardashvili.
However, yesterday appeared to ease any threat of an imminent departure for the Irishman, as the club rejected a late bid from Nottingham Forest to secure his services.
Hezze twist
A report which made a wild claim that Liverpool were looking to make a deadline day signing of a European champion has taken a further twist.
After Greek journalist Stephen Kountourou first reported yesterday that Liverpool were interested in Olympiacos defensive midfielder Santiago Hezze, social media was awash with snap analysis of the Conference League champion.
Varela chase
After being linked with a whole host of holding midfielders, the Reds were linked another suitable choice for the problematic no.6 role.
Argentine international Alan Varela has only been at Porto for a year, after being signed from Boca Juniors for a reported €11m. Now it would appear Varela could have been on the move again, after a report from journalist Luis Fregossi suggested that Liverpool had submitted a formal offer to the Portuguese club after having monitored Varela since April.
Ben Doak loaned out
The talented Scottish teenager will be spending the rest of the season at Middlesbrough after the club agreed to send him out on loan on deadline day.
Doak is highly regarded at the club and was wanted by Hull City, but in the end the 18-year-old ended up signing for Championship rival, Middlesbrough, where he will be hoping for plenty of regular minutes at the club.
Pitaluga on the move
The Brazilian goalkeeper has moved out on loan yet again to Scottish Championship side, Livingston.
He'll be hoping to feature regularly and earn promotion with his new side.
