Four more Liverpool stars added to Saudi Pro League transfer 'agenda' alongside Mo Salah

Mohamed Salah will not be the only Liverpool player of interest to the Saudi Pro League in the summer transfer window, according to reports.

Salah has been a known target of the newly monied Saudi league since last summer, when Liverpool rejected an offer supposedly worth up to £150m from Al Ittihad for the forward.

While that offer was instantly dismissed, speculation over Salah's future has continued.

Liverpool's record Premier League goalscorer has less than 18 months to run on his current Liverpool contract and the Reds' hierarchy face a big decision over whether to offer another big-money renewal, sell this summer or face the prospect of losing a star asset for nothing in 2025.

Interest in Salah from Saudi Arabia is expected to continue despite last year's setback, with the Egyptian high on the government-backed league's list of targets due to his status as the Arab world's biggest sporting superstar.

However, a report from ESPN claims that Salah is not the only major Liverpool star of interest to the Saudis.

Club captain Virgil van Dijk and first-choice keeper Alisson are also said to be "on the agenda" for the Saudi Pro League this summer.

The report adds that while the Saudis are not expecting to match last year's spend, the transfer strategy ahead of the 2024/25 season will be "equally aggressive" with "significant" fees anticipated.

Van Dijk, like Salah, is under contract until 2025, while Alisson is tied to Liverpool until 2027.

Meanwhile, a report from 90min adds that Salah remains the "joint-top target" for the Pro League (alongside Manchester City's Kevin de Bruyne) and a "fresh approach" will be made in the coming months.

The same report also name-checks two more Liverpool stars who could be Saudi targets as part of the summer strategy: Thiago Alcantara and Ben Doak.

Thiago is out of contract in the summer and highly unlikely to be offered a renewal given his age, cost and injury problems. The former Bayern Munich star was linked with Saudi Arabia last summer, along with clubs in Spain and Turkey, but ultimately stayed put at Anfield, making just one sub appearance in 2023/24 to date.

Doak, meanwhile, could be targeted for a loan deal according to 90min, with the Saudi Pro League clubs also keen to bring in "a higher level of promising talent and create a connection with top clubs."

Anfield Watch understands that Salah is now open to extending his contract at Liverpool beyond 2025.
