Liverpool transfer news: President is now flying in to seal a surprise deal
Liverpool will reportedly welcome a club president as he attempts to seal a surprise summer deal with the Reds.
Yeni Safak report that Galatasaray are ready to accelerate talks with Liverpool over Ryan Gravenberch. The Turkish giants believe the Reds are open to letting Gravenberch depart after his debut campaign on Merseyside.
They're seeking a loan deal and hope to kick-on talks by flying president Dursun Ozbek to England this week. He'll discuss the move with, presumably, Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes.
Arne Slot is said to be open to letting Gravenberch leave, who wouldn't have a key role in his squad. Thus Galatasaray want to strike now and secure a key boost to their midfield for next season.
Galatasaray want Ryan Gravenberch
No one really saw Gravenberch leaving this summer - his debut season wasn't an overwhelming success but there was incredible promise there. Letting him go already would be a huge surprise.
Especially as it's difficult to see how he'd come back from that loan. There's next to nothing he could do in Turkey that would see him return to Liverpool with a genuine shot at the first team. Not unless he went there and utterly dominated the Super Lig.
So we find this one difficult to believe. It's not out of the question that a new head coach could decide a player isn't for him - and perhaps Slot has decided that with Gravenberch.
But a loan move just one year after spending £35m? It just isn't very Liverpool and we think the Reds would much rather give Gravenberch to January if there were any uncertainties about his fit.
Because there's every chance that Slot unlocks Gravenberch in a way that Jurgen Klopp wasn't able to. He's still a young player, too, and the promise there is too great to essentially write him off with a loan move.
This deal would be a surprise, then, and we can't see Gravenberch going anywhere.
