Liverpool transfer news roundup: Schuurs competition, Colwill contract talks
Here's a rundown of all things Liverpool on the rumour mill this Saturday...
Poor Khephren Thuram must be feeling pretty unloved at the moment. German outlet Kicker report that Bayern Munich have pulled out of the race to sign the French midfielder, while Liverpool also seem to have cooled their interest in preference of Romeo Lavia. Newcastle could still be keen though.
Liverpool's prime defensive midfield target now appears to be Lavia, but Sky Sports say Southampton are sticking to their guns and holding out for £50m, while Fabrizio Romano has suggested the Reds could get "creative" in their bid strategy. You can read our full breakdown of the latest on that story here.
Another pricey Premier League star on Jurgen Klopp's radar is Levi Colwill. Football.london say Chelsea are not up for selling and want to open contract talks to tie the defender down to a new deal. Liverpool have already made "multiple" enquiries and their chances could all hinge on the 20-year-old's first meeting with Mauricio Pochettino. Read more on that here.
Adding fuel to the transfer fire is Harvey Elliott — the little scamp — who left a comment on his England Under-21 teammate's Instagram post that said "let's have a chat".
Just in case Agent Elliott's hi-jinx aren't enough to seal the deal, one alternative to Colwill for Liverpool could be Torino's Perr Schuurs. West Ham have joined Liverpool in the race to sign the 23-year-old according to Gianluca Di Marzio.
One defender who could be leaving Anfield this summer is Luke Chambers. The Athletic say that the 19-year-old left back is being eyed by Xabi Alonso (lucky him) at Bayer Leverkusen.
