Liverpool will meet La Liga side to discuss £30m Alisson successor
Liverpool have reportedly scheduled a meeting with Valencia this week to discuss a £30m move for their goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.
A recent report from Spanish outlet Relevo has revealed that the Reds view Mamardashvili as a perfect heir to Alisson at Anfield and are ready to accelerate discussions for a summer transfer.
This is not the first time Liverpool have been linked to the goalkeeper, who starred for Georgia at Euro 2024, but Relevo's report offers a significant update on the situation.
They claim that a meeting has already been scheduled between the Reds and Valencia to discuss a deal and that Liverpool are desperate to sign the stopper this summer.
Mamardashvili would likely cost around the £30m mark but the 23-year-old is not content with being Alisson's back-up in the Liverpool goal.
Therefore, the report claims that the Reds want a deal done this summer to prevent Mamardashvili's price increasing, but they will loan him out for the 2024/25 campaign.
They want to loan him to a Premier League club to give him experience of English football and rumoured suitors Bournemouth could take him on board on a temporary basis.
Liverpool don't want to rush Alisson's departure and Mamardashvili wants consistent first-team football at a 'top' club, meaning this would be an ideal solution for all parties.
Mamardashvili would be happy to make the move to Anfield given he could be the long-term successor to Alisson.
WILL LIVERPOOL SIGN GIORGI MAMARDASHVILI?
Relevo's report is certainly detailed but it remains to be seen whether or not Liverpool hold significant interest in the Georgia goalkeeper.
Alisson will have to be replaced eventually but the 31-year-old has a contract with the Reds until 2027 and has shown no signs of slowing down anytime soon - even if injuries have always proven an issue with the Brazilian.
Therefore, there is no reason to believe that Alisson will be sold in the near future.
Caoimhin Kelleher could leave Liverpool before this summer's transfer window shuts and would need to be replaced, but Mamardashvili's desire to play first-team football means a move to be Alisson's back-up seems unlikely.
Adrian has already left the Reds and academy graduate Vitezslav Jaros will take his place, with Liverpool unlikely to sign a new goalkeeper this summer unless Kelleher departs.
