Luis Diaz wants to move to Barcelona this summer in order to fulfil a ‘dream’, according to a new report in the Spanish press.

Diaz, 27, has been mentioned in recent reports as a potential Liverpool departure amid uncertainty regarding his future.

The Colombian is under contract at Anfield until 2027 but with question marks over his form it’s been suggested that the Reds might well cash in their chips should a decent bid materialise.

In previous conversations between Barca higher-ups and the representatives of Diaz, it was suggested that Liverpool might seek a fee of between €120 million and €140m for the winger, a price far out of reach for the Catalans.

However, it has now been reported that Diaz has his heart set on a move to Barca, which could open the door to a Liverpool exit.

It would be no easy operation for the cash-strapped Catalans, who are facing strict budgetary conditions heading into the transfer window.

Club president Joan Laporta is out of financial levers to pull and is reported to be seeking outside investment in order to generate enough money for new signings.

Furthermore, Barca have a host of first-team players for whom they are prepared to listen to offers.

The likes of Ferran Torres, Raphinha and star striker Robert Lewandowski could be made available this summer to raise money for potential incomings.

Barca offered FOUR Liverpool stars

Barca have had conversations with third parties regarding FOUR Liverpool players according to recent reports, with Diaz, Darwin Nunez, Kostas Tsimikas and Fabio Carvalho being sounded out for moves.

Moreover it was suggested that all four were in effect offered to the Catalan club if they could afford the signings.

Barca are desperate to add a high-quality left winger, with priority now being given to Diaz over the likes of Nico Williams, Dani Olmo and Porto star Pepe, according to Mundo Deportivo

It promises to be a summer of renewal at Liverpool in the post-Jurgen Klopp era, with incoming sporting director Richard Hughes and FSG’s CEO of Football Michael Edwards assuming responsibility for transfers.

Liverpool will also get a new coach, likely to be Arne Slot, and it remains to be seen which players are deemed expendable by the Merseysiders.
