Liverpool named among FIVE potential new clubs for Kimmich

Liverpool have been named as one of FIVE potential destinations for the unsettled Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich, after a report in Germany claimed his club were now preparing to sell him this summer.

Kimmich, 29, has endured a rocky season under Bayern head coach Thomas Tuchel; he has been substituted at key times with games in the balance, while the player was known to be unhappy at being left out of the side for the recent top-of-the-table clash against Bayer Leverkusen.

He has worked hard to get fit for the game after a shoulder injury and was surprised that he wasn’t included in the lineup.

And, in recent weeks, he has been shunted to right back in order to accommodate emerging midfield star Aleksandar Pavlovic.

The club and their treble-winning star have been engaged in a contract standoff all season long with the player’s current terms expiring in 2025. Kimmich is among the club’s top earners, with a gross weekly salary of around €375,000.

And a Sky Germany report that the club are now resolving to sell Kimmich with no further talks scheduled over a new deal.

The Reds have been credited with a long-term interest in the Germany international and, along with Manchester City and Arsenal, are among the three potential Premier League teams Kimmich could represent next season.

Liverpool, Man City, Arsenal are among Kimmich's preferred destinations

Clasico pair, Real Madrid and Barcelona, are also reckoned to be among the clubs the former RB Leipzig man could sign for.

Real could move on from Toni Kroos and Luka Modric with both superstars out of contract but, having worked hard at reducing the age of the squad, it’s unlikely they would spend big on a player who will turn 30 next season.

Meanwhile, it is unlikely that Barca could furnish a deal in terms of wages and a transfer fee.

Kimmich was signed by Pep Guardiola for Bayern back in 2015 and worked with the City boss for a season until his departure for the Etihad in 2016.

Arsenal have also been mentioned as Kimmich’s next potential employers and it is reckoned they will seek a new holding midfielder in summer as Declan Rice has been unleashed in a role further up.

Liverpool’s incoming sporting director Richard Hughes has a bulging in-box with numerous first-team issues to attend to.

There are expiring contracts for Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk in 2025 while plans continue for incomings in Liverpool’s first post-Jurgen Klopp transfer window.
