Fabrizio Romano EXPECTS move to happen for 26-goal Liverpool target
Liverpool have started the season well, and currently sit top of the Premier League, but this hasn’t stopped them looking ahead at how they can improve their squad.
The Reds’ forward line has been in fine form, with Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah all coming up big for Liverpool in recent matches.
Although he has been in red-hot form since August, this may be Salah’s final season in a Liverpool shirt as his contract is set to expire in June.
With that in mind, Liverpool are already looking at how they could strengthen their forward line if Salah were to leave, and one target could be available on a free transfer.

Fabrizio Romano offers update on Jonathan David
One man who was linked with Liverpool this summer is Jonathan David, who currently leads the line at Lille.
David was also considered back in 2020 before the Reds decided to sign Diogo Jota, but an Anfield move for the Canadian forward could now be back on.
Speaking on The Debrief podcast, Romano revealed that he expects David to leave Lille as a free agent at the end of the season.
“He [David] will consider several things, not just financially, the project, the managers, so he’s not going to decide now.
“Jonathan David will explore his options, but for sure I expect him to leave Lille as a free agent.”
Romano also revealed that clubs in Spain and Italy are also interested in the 24-year-old and it seems likely that Liverpool will face some tough competition for his signature.
“Jonathan David is one of the biggest names on the market for the summer of 2025. Again, before making any decisions, he will take his time, it’s not something for now or something for 2024.”
Why are Liverpool interested in Jonathan David?
As well as the potential departure of Mo Salah, Darwin Nunez’s future at Liverpool is anything but certain, and David could be seen as a replacement for the Uruguayan if any teams were to act upon their interest in him.
The Canadian star scored 26 goals in all competitions for Lille last season and already has five goals this season in Ligue 1.
David’s contract situation also makes him an attractive prospect for Liverpool who wouldn’t have to shell out on a large transfer fee to secure the player’s services.
Liverpool supporters will remain hopeful that Salah signs a contract extension and stays at the club but David could be a smart addition regardless of where the Egyptian King is playing his football next season.
