Liverpool are looking at Bayer Leverkusen centre back Jonathan Tah ahead of the summer transfer window, according to a report in Germany.
Tah, 28, has impressed for Xabi Alonso's Bundesliga-leading Leverkusen side this season, making 19 league appearances and scoring four goals.
With Leverkusen eight points clear at the top of the table, the Germany international is on track for the first title of his career. However, like many of his colleagues, he has been tipped to move at the end of the season.
According to SportBILD, Liverpool have shortlisted Tah among their defensive targets, while suitors can capitalise on a clause in the player's contract to get a bargain this summer.
The report notes that the defender's Leverkusen deal will expire in 2025, while a release clause of €18m (just over £15m) is set to kick for the final 12 months of his contract.
It is claimed that Tah would prefer a move to the Premier League, while Liverpool have a 'good chance' to sign him.
Tah is far from the only man at Leverkusen the Reds have been linked with in recent times.
Anfield Watch has reported that Jurgen Klopp's side made an enquiry for Tah's defensive teammate Piero Hincapie in January, but were knocked back. Meanwhile, attacking talisman Florian Wirtz has also been suggested as a player Liverpool are watching.
Wing back Jeremie Frimpong, too, could be another Anfield target. The former Manchester City academy player did little to dispel rumours when asked recently about a potential move to Merseyside.
Much of the speculation about Liverpool interest in Leverkusen players is connected to the fact that Alonso remains the leading candidate to take over Jurgen Klopp as manager this summer.
Klopp recently named Alonso as one of the standout coaches of his generation in what has been seen by many as a tacit endorsement of his potential successor.
While Bayern Munich are also said to be keen on luring Alonso away from Leverkusen, there have been reports that Liverpool are already 'advanced' in their talks with the former midfield playmaker.
