Liverpool are now expected to spend £30m on a player and repeat a very successful plan of Chelsea’s. The player is on board.

Spanish outlet Relovo reports that Liverpool are now expected to push for Giorgi Mamardashvili. Valencia are fully aware of the Reds' interest and believe they'll bid in excess of £30m for the goalkeeper.

Mamardashvili is seen as Alisson Becker's successor - but not immediately. Liverpool would loan him out right after the transfer, with Bournemouth expected to be favourites for his signature.

This one still has a little way to run, though. Valencia want to get as much money as possible, both in the guaranteed amount and the potential add-ons down the line.

Dinamo Tbilisi have 10% of Valencia's profit coming to them, forcing the Spaniards to get as much as possible here for one of their star assets. They know Liverpool aren't going away here, and Mamardashvili is fully on board with the Reds' plans.

Liverpool want Giorgi Mamardashvili

Liverpool have been linked with Mamardashvili for the last couple of weeks now, but they're not the only ones. Atletico Madrid also reportedly want him - though, a move this summer might come too soon for them.

Not to mention that they're tied up in whatever it is Chelsea have going on.

But the Blues are relevant here for another reason. Liverpool are looking to repeat a highly successful plan of theirs, essentially, by signing Mamardashvili and loaning him out. In fact, Atletico have history in this one, too.

Chelsea signed Thibaut Courtois as a successor for Petr Cech back in 2011 but knew their star goalkeeper had years left in him. They sent him out to Atletico, where the Belgian spent three full seasons and established himself as one of the world's best.

Courtois then returned to Chelsea and became their no.1 - before unceremoniously forcing a transfer to Real Madrid in 2018.

Liverpool will hope for a similar story with Mamardashvili, save for the last bit. They just need to get this one over the line.
