Liverpool DESPERATE to avoid Zubimendi repeat as they close in on £30m target
Liverpool are reportedly desperate to avoid a repeat of their Martin Zubimendi failure as they push to sign another La Liga star.
Relovo reports that Liverpool want to move quickly for Giorgi Mamardashvili. The Reds supposedly hope to spend around £30m to sign the goalkeeper - but don't want to wait around.
This comes after a series of delays in their Martin Zubimendi pursuit ruined their plans. Real Sociedad did everything in their power to keep the midfielder and were ultimately successful.

Zubimendi rejected Liverpool on Monday, opting to remain with his boyhood club for at least another year. The Reds are now left without a target in his position and risk heading into the new campaign a little light in defensive midfield once again.
It's not a situation they want to repeat. One real positive is that Valencia appear to be open to negotiation for Mamardashvili - Sociedad weren't, and demanded a £51m release clause be met in full.
Here, though, Liverpool will talk things over and try to find a deal that makes sense for them. And they hope to do it ASAP.
Liverpool push for Mamardashvili
If Liverpool do want Mamardashvili - and it's reported just about everywhere that they do - then it's vital that they get this over the line. They only appear to have had two major targets in this window and one has failed.
The other one surely can't.
This is the first summer under new sporting director Richard Hughes and new head coach Arne Slot. There's an entirely new structure in place at FSG to oversee the running of football operations. To have that summer end in complete failure would be a disaster and as big a blow to the new setup as you could imagine.
Unless, of course, they also fail to tie down Trent Alexander-Arnold long-term. But that doesn't need thinking about just yet.
