With the transfer window slamming shut later today, Arne Slot has been speaking about the likelihood of any more incomings or outgoings at Anfield.

Speaking in a club press conference this morning ahead of Sunday’s visit to take on Manchester United at Old Trafford, head coach Slot was asked about a wide range of topics, including whether Liverpool’s summer transfer business was concluded or whether there could be a few last-minute surprises coming our way.

In terms of incomings, the big headline and only first-team signing for this season is obviously Federico Chiesa, announced yesterday. Of course there has also been an agreement to sign Georgian shot-stopper Giorgi Mamardashvili, although he won’t be arriving at Anfield until next summer.

As far as the outgoings are concerned, there has been good profit made on Fabio Carvalho and Sepp van den Berg, both going to Brentford. Bobby Clark has been sold permanently to RB Salzburg, and Stefan Bajcetic is headed there on loan too.

'We will see'

Whether or not however there will be any more attention-grabbing transfer headlines today will largely be up to whether or not Slot and sporting director Richard Hughes think there will be a player available who can immediately improve the Reds’ starting XI.

In his press conference, Slot said about potential incomings: "Today? I am not expecting anything but it is no different than all the days before but if we see an opportunity, we will see but not expecting anything."

As for outgoings, Slot said: "Same for incomings, if it is the right opportunity for the player and club, we will act. If that comes it will happen but my main attention is United."

It’s good to see that Slot is focusing on what is sure to be one of Liverpool’s biggest games of the season, and presumably Hughes will be left to see if there are any more chances to be opportunistic in the market today.
