Bayer Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong reportedly 'dreams' of a Liverpool move this summer, with a £34m release clause in his contract expiring soon.

The Dutch international, who reached the semi-final of Euro 2024, lit up German football last season, winning the domestic double during a magnificent campaign with Bayer Leverkusen.

Former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso got the best out of him in a right wing-back role, with Frimpong showing incredible versatility by playing in an even more advanced position at times last term.

The 23-year-old produced a remarkable 12 goals and 14 assists in 47 outings during 2023/24, and is subsequently attracting interest from some of Europe's giants.

Frimpong was born in Amsterdam but spent much of his youth in the Manchester City academy, sealing a move to Celtic in 2019 prior to his impressive Bayer Leverkusen switch.

JEREMIE FRIMPONG 'DREAMS' OF LIVERPOOL MOVE

Frimpong has previously stated that a move to Anfield 'would be great' and Bild (via Sport Witness) are now reporting that he 'dreams' of joining the Reds during this summer's transfer window.

The report states that he is similarly motivated by potential moves to Real Madrid, Manchester City and Arsenal, but it's the Reds that have 'most recently' been in contact to sign the youngster.

Frimpong has a €40m (£33.6m) release clause in his current contract that is active at present, but the clause expires the week after the Euro 2024 final. That means that the Reds would have to act soon on their reported interest.

When that clause is no longer available to trigger, it's expected that Bayer Leverkusen will massively increase the price for one of their prized assets.

With Trent Alexander-Arnold and Conor Bradley currently at Liverpool already, it seems extremely unlikely that the Reds would dip into the market for an attacking-full back.

While his versatility is attractive, the Reds simply don't need any additions to the right-hand side of their defence.

Liverpool could well bolster their backline in the coming weeks, but they are more interested in recruiting a new central defender than a right-back.
