Reds join race for Man Utd and Juventus-linked German youngster
Liverpool have joined the race for the highly-rated Germany prospect Bence Dardai, according to a report in HITC.
The Hertha Berlin midfielder has already attracted attention from Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen, Juventus and AC Milan on the continent as well as Manchester United in the Premier League.
Dardai, 18, is a Germany under-18 international and played in three U18 Pinatar Super Cup matches over the international break, against the Netherlands, England and Czechia.
In the England match last Friday, a 0-0 draw, Dardai came up against Reds Trey Nyoni, Amara Nallo and Jayden Danns, fresh off a new Liverpool contract.
It has been reported that Liverpool club scouts were present at the Spanish mini-tournament and will have observed his performances in midfield.
Dardai started the season as part of the Hertha first-team squad for the first time and had made eight league appearances by the end of October.
However, a severe ankle injury sustained in a 2. Bundesliga match against Paderborn saw him miss several months.
Dardai in demand as contract expires
Bence, the son of Hertha legend and current club coach, Pal Dardai, has only just returned to action in recent weeks. Brothers, Palko and Marton, are also contracted professionals at the Berlin club.
He is out of contract at the end of the current season and was reportedly close to agreeing a move to Wolfsburg a couple of weeks ago, having rejected a professional deal at Hertha.
However, the attacking midfielder’s future remains up in the air with a number of top European sides now ready to pounce, according to HITC.
The club has earned praise in recent seasons for recruiting young talent from around the UK and a number of academy graduates have been present in Jurgen Klopp’s first-team squad this season.
Danns, Nyoni, Lewis Koumas, James McConnell, Conor Bradley and Bobby Clark are among those to make the breakthrough this term.
