Bayern Munich put Liverpool star top of list to replace Real Madrid target
Andy Robertson has been named as top of Bayern Munich's shortlist to replace Real Madrid-bound Alphonso Davies, according to a report.
Canadian left back Davies is expected to make the move to Madrid either this summer or the next, after reportedly reaching a verbal agreement on a transfer.
The 23-year-old's contract in Germany is up in 2025, while he appears to be closing in on a move to the Spanish capital.
Real Madrid and Bayern are yet to negotiate a deal which would allow Davies to move this summer. However, the Daily Mail claims the Bundesliga giants are already preparing for his exit.
They claim that "Bayern have been aware of Davies's likely departure and have been collating reports on left-backs across the globe."
As such, Liverpool No. 26 Robertson is named as the top target to fill the void at the Allianz Arena.
The report does note that "it would be a major challenge to prise Robertson away from Anfield", but that Bayern — who are also interested in Liverpool managerial target Xabi Alonso — are "setting their sights high" on a top-class signing.
Robertson, who turns 30 next month, joined the Reds from Hull in an £8m move back in 2017 and has gone on to become a hugely popular figure at the club.
The Scotland skipper is among the club's senior leadership group and has captained Liverpool on three occasions to date.
He is also under contract until 2026, having last signed an extension three years ago, and it seems highly unlikely that a sale would be sanctioned unless he specifically requested to leave.
So far in 2023/24, Robertson has made just 13 Premier League appearances, having been sidelined for three months following shoulder surgery.
Meanwhile, Liverpool are known to be on the lookout for defensive reinforcements this summer, with a left-sided centre back among the priorities. To that end, Anfield Watch has previously reported on the Reds' interest in Gonaclo Inacio (Sporting CP) and Piero Hincapie (Bayer Leverkusen).
