Liverpool told not to fear competition - £23.5m star is theirs if they want him
Liverpool reportedly don’t need to fear competition for a £23.5m transfer target. The player is theirs if they want him.
German journalist Christain Falk believes Liverpool don't need to worry about the threat of Bundesliga clubs over Baris Yilmaz. Borussia Dortmund, Eintracht Frankfurt and RB Leipzig are all interested in the Turkish winger.
Falk understands that Dortmund's interest is the most 'concrete' but not so much that they're actively pushing for a transfer. Instead, Liverpool have something of a free path to Yilmaz right now.
“Dortmund has Baris Alper Yilmaz on their shortlist – that’s true," he wrote in his Daily Briefing. “It’s not concrete at the moment. The rumours about Frankfurt and Leipzig aren’t as concrete as is the case at Dortmund”
“If Dortmund needs a new striker, in case they sold Fullkrug, it would be an option, but I think Liverpool don’t have to be afraid of the German teams!”
Liverpool's Yilmaz interest
There have been a few links between Liverpool and Yilmaz. The winger is reportedly available for around £23.5m this summer and the Reds are a name constantly put with his.
Though, admittedly, all of that reporting has come from Turkey. Yilmaz was in England recently, however, which adds smoke to the situation - but we're still not sure just how strong Liverpool's interest is.
But they'll be looking at Yilmaz, certainly. He was fantastic for Galatasaray and put up exactly the kind of numbers Liverpool would want.
He's quick, he likes to run with the ball, and he can defend. We imagine Arne Slot could work wonders with him and £23.5m is a great price for a player like that.
However, do Liverpool need him? We're not so sure. Mohamed Salah will certainly play from the right in pretty much every game and there's probably more value in using Ben Doak out wide than taking a chance on Yilmaz.
We know Slot wants to develop players, after all, and Yilmaz may be one who simply gets in the way.
