Barcelona have sent a 'surreal' offer for RB Leipzig superstar Dani Olmo as they attempt to capture the Euro 2024 winner's signature before a host of other European giants.

Liverpool have been linked with a move for the 26-year-old following his exceptional displays en route to glory at this summer's tournament.

The Reds have worked closely with RB Leipzig previously, signing Ibrahima Konate and Dominik Szoboszlai from the German side and sending Fabio Carvalho on loan to the Red Bull Arena last season.

Olmo reportedly had a €60m (£51m) release clause in his contract but that has now expired, meaning clubs will have to negotiate directly with Leipzig to secure his services.

The Bundesliga outfit are willing to let Olmo leave should an appropriate bid arrive and Barca have sent their first offer for the attacking midfielder.

BARCELONA'S 'SURREAL' DANI OLMO OFFER

According to Spanish outlet SPORT, Barcelona have sent a €60m offer to Leipzig for Olmo, who scored three goals and registered two assists at Euro 2024.

However, the payment of that sum is concerning Leipzig. €40m is a base fee paid in €10m instalments across the next four January windows.

The rest will be offered in bonuses: €5m for each La Liga and Champions League title won (maximum of two titles for each competition).

Leipzig reportedly view the offer as 'ridiculous' and 'surreal', meaning it's extremely likely that it will be rejected immediately.

Therefore, Liverpool still have time to prepare an offer of their own should they desire, although the Reds are likely to prioritise reinforcing other areas of the pitch.

Any such bid would have to be more favourable than Barca's, of course.

Liverpool are yet to make a summer signing ahead of Arne Slot's debut campaign but the Dutch head coach has hinted that at least one new recruit is likely before the end of the window.

It's thought that the Reds will prioritise a new centre-back, defensive midfielder and/or wide forward in the coming weeks.
