Liverpool could still secure a long-term midfield target despite the closure of the transfer window. However time is running out.

Its been no secret that Arne Slot had been looking to bolster his midfield this summer, losing out on Martin Zubimendi who opted to stay at boyhood club Real Sociedad.

Adrien Rabiot has been a free agent since his contract with Juventus expired at the start of July after he refused to sign a new deal. Subsequently the player has been left out of the French National Team for their UEFA Nations League fixtures.

Liverpool could still sign 'extraordinary' Adrien Rabiot

L'Equipe linked the 29-year-old with a potential move to Liverpool, while Manchester United, a long-time admirer, reportedly backed away from their interest.

Since then, there have been no significant developments regarding a Premier League transfer, but there is interest from other clubs.

According to RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins, Galatasaray has shown interest in signing Rabiot.

However, the midfielder is yet to express a preference for a move to Turkey. Meanwhile, La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Rabiot turned down an offer from AC Milan.

According to Getfootballnewsfrance, AS Monaco, who were searching for a midfielder after Youssouf Fofana's departure, were also linked with Rabiot.

However, when asked on Sunday about the potential signing, Monaco's CEO, Thiago Scuro, hinted that Rabiot might be out of their price range. "I don’t know. You’ll have to ask him, his staff," Scuro said, suggesting that Rabiot is not a priority for the club despite their interest in strengthening their midfield.

Former Juventus striker David Trezeguet labelled the French midfielder as an ‘extraordinary player’ when speaking to Football Italia.

If Liverpool want to snap up Rabiot, they'll have to be quick. Players out of contract can still be registered with English clubs until September 13, which is just eight days away.
