6 Liverpool players who could leave the Reds THIS WEEK
Here are six Liverpool players who could leave the club this week. The Reds’ transfer business is expected to kick into gear.
This could finally be the week that things really kickstart for Liverpool in this transfer window. The Reds have been remarkably quiet - the only Premier League club not to sign a player.
In reality, it's even stranger than that. They haven't even sold anyone.
However, that's expected to change this week. Liverpool will return from their USA preseason tour and Arne Slot finally has a grip on his new squad.
He's reportedly deciding right now who should be sold from the group and the Reds will enter talks with clubs once they're back from the States. Deals could well come quickly.
Here's who could be sold off to kickstart the summer.
Joe Gomez
The highest-profile player linked with a move away. Liverpool reportedly struck a deal with Newcastle United to sell Joe Gomez back in June but things fell apart.
Reports suggest both the club and the player are open to talks with buyers, though. Those talks could come this week and potentially mean a real windfall for the Reds.
The Newcastle deal was for £45m and we imagine Liverpool would want similar to sell.
Sepp van den Berg
Sepp van den Berg has been linked with a move away from before the transfer window and that shouldn't be a surprise. He's never been able to hold down a spot at Liverpool and after a fantastic season with Mainz on loan, there's plenty of interest in him.
PSV Eindhoven are very interested and talks are expected to resume this week. But they're not alone there - Mainz also want Van den Berg back.
The question is whether either can afford the £20m asking price. If either can, he's likely theirs.
Tyler Morton
Tyler Morton is another who has been expected to move on. He's a very talented player but Liverpool have plenty of midfielders right now and his form at Hull City last season makes him an interesting prospect for clubs.
RB Leipzig are reportedly one of those chasing Morton. Liverpool will want around £20m for him, however, which prices out many potential buyers.
We'll see this week if anyone can find the cash.
Bobby Clark
Bobby Clark missed out on Liverpool's preseason squad, squarely opening the door for either a loan or a sale. Neither has happened so far but there was supposedly a bid from RB Salzburg.
That's an interesting one, given Pep Lijnders is now the head coach there. That bid was rejected, apparently, but a new higher one is imminent.
It'll likely arrive this week and could well see Clark depart Liverpool permanently.
Fabio Carvalho
Fabio Carvalho is an interesting one. Last season was a disaster for him, with a loan to RB Leipzig bringing under 180 Bundesliga minutes across five months. The deal was cancelled early and while Carvalho saved things by excelling at Hull, it was still a drop down to the Championship.
It means he has yet to show he can do it at the top level. Will Liverpool take a chance on him when they've already got so many potential no.10s at the club? It feels unlikely.
At the same time, Liverpool won't entertain a loan move, says the Telegraph. They are open to selling, though, and they'll likely gauge the interest this week.
Owen Beck
Liverpool have reportedly decided to sell Owen Beck this summer and Celtic are interested in picking him up. Beck enjoyed a brilliant time on loan at Dundee last season but sees his pathway to the Reds' first-team closed off with both Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas in the squad.
They'll try and cash-in and unlike most of the players on this list, it appears they're open to negotiating over the price. We imagine Liverpool will instead look to secure a decent sell-on clause in any deal. Maybe even a buyback.
