Liverpool left-back Kostas Tsimikas is eyeing up talks with his former club over a potential return.

The Greek international featured heavily during pre-season friendlies against Real Betis, Arsenal and Manchester United but failed to be chosen ahead of Andy Robertson after his injury return.

He endured a difficult campaign last season when filling in for the Scotsman and struggled to make an impact across all competitions.

Tsimikas in search of more game time

Now, Greek football specialist Stephen Kountourou has said the 28-year-old could return to his former club Olympiacos on loan to get more game time.

It has been widely rumoured that Tsimikas wouldn't be part of Arne Slot's plans.

After signing a contract extension last summer, he currently has three years left on his deal, but an early Anfield exit hasn't been ruled out.

There are no current concrete links between Tsimikas and the Greek club, who have been looking for another left-back.

Kountourou also believes the defender would be welcomed back to the side.

Tsimikas was often overlooked last season in favour of Joe Gomez, impressing fans in the role after the Greek broke his collarbone.

Tsimikas would have been hoping for a fresh start under the new head coach but has failed to make an impression on Slot's team.

With the transfer window almost over, if a deal was to be agreed it could leave Liverpool lacking in the left-back role with limited options.

It also doesn't seem to be an area the reds are currently looking to strengthen.
