Liverpool ticket prices for Jurgen Klopp's Anfield farewell PLUMMET
When Jurgen Klopp announced he would be leaving Liverpool, resellers were listing tickets for the club’s final Premier League home match of the season against Wolves on May 19 at prices up to a whopping £25,000 for seats behind the benches.
However, as Liverpool’s season draws to a disappointing close, tickets are now available with third parties for Klopp’s Anfield farewell at prices starting at £275.
Even those seats behind Klopp’s dugout have had their prices slashed, with these tickets now being moved for prices of more than £11,000. VIP hospitality packages meanwhile are retailing at 'just' £513 by comparison.
Falling demand perhaps illustrates a general sense of disillusionment at how the season has turned out with Liverpool's trophy hopes firmly extinguished.
Back when Klopp gave news of his impending departure in January, the Reds were still in the hunt for a quadruple.
Although they secured the Carabao Cup title against Chelsea in February, elevating hopes of a fairytale end to the Klopp era, performances in other competitions haven’t lived up to expectations.
Liverpool slipped out of the FA Cup at the quarter-final stage to Manchester United and fell at the same stage of the UEFA Europa League to Italian side Atalanta.
More disappointment was to follow in the Premier League as a sequence of poor results saw the Merseysides slump from title contenders to also-rans in the space of just a few weeks.
Fans who were thrilled by the prospect of seeing Klopp lift the Premier League trophy at Anfield - this time in front of a packed stadium as opposed to one suffering under Covid restrictions back in 2020 - will have their wishes unmet.
And, accordingly, prices have plummeted for this one-time unmissable fixture.
Liverpool ticket prices start at £9
Local general sale tickets - for those living in an L postcode - for Liverpool home matches at Anfield begin at £9 with prices reaching up to £60 for the 2023-24 season.
Prices are set to increase next season, a decision from the club which met considerable backlash from match-going supporters and fan groups alike.
Any supporter who wishes to say a final goodbye to Klopp in person can also buy tickets to the "An Evening with Jurgen Klopp & Special Guests" event, which will be held on Tuesday, May 28 at the M&S Bank Arena.
