Liverpool will receive a welcome financial boost from former goalkeeper Kamil Grabara's agreed transfer to Wolfsburg.

Though the transfer window officially closed on Friday, Wolfsburg have already announced a deal in place to bring 24-year-old Grabara to the club next year.

The Polish goalkeeper will join the Bundesliga side from FC Copenhagen in a €13.5m (£11.5m) transfer.

According to the Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung, Liverpool will also benefit from the deal, having worked in a 20% sell-on clause when Grabara left for Denmark back in 2021.

The Reds will, in theory, receive around £2.3m from the transfer, which is set for next summer but could be brought forward to January.

Grabara joined Liverpool from Ruch Chorzow back in 2016, but ultimately never made a first-team appearance during his time on Merseyside.

Instead, he spent loan spells at AGF in Denmark and Huddersfield before being sold to Copenhagen – in a deal that Transfermarkt cite at €6.2m.

While at Copenhagen, Grabara established himself as one of the best stoppers in Demark, winning the Danish Superliga twice (2021/22, 2022/23) as well as the Danish Cup (2022/23).

Speaking about his upcoming move, Grabara said: “The manner in which VfL approached me convinced me very quickly that this is the right step for my career. That’s why it was an easy decision to move to Wolfsburg.

"I’m really looking forward to repaying the faith shown in me. Until that time comes, though, I’m going to give my all to have a good, successful season with FC Copenhagen and help my team achieve our aims.”

Grabara wouldn't be the first ex-Liverpool keeper to find success in the Bundesliga after leaving Anfield. Hungary international Peter Gulacsi left the Reds in 2013, having also failed to make a first-team appearance, but went on to become one of the German top flight's most reliable stoppers at RB Leipzig, where he remains to this day.
