Liverpool set exciting milestone with Europe's best now playing catch up

Liverpool set a new milestone for the season against Luton Town, with Europe's best now playing catch up to the Reds. Jurgen Klopp's team feel unstoppable.

Liverpool put four past Luton Town on Wednesday evening after going 1-0 down at Anfield. It's the sixth time they've done so in 2024 already and the fourth time in their last six games (three in five for the Premier League).

In other words, Liverpool are finding goals incredibly easy to come by this season. They're an attacking force and one that has now scored 100 goals across all competitions.

Underlining just how good they are at finding the net, the Reds are the first team across Europe's top five leagues to reach 1o0 goals for the season. Everyone else is playing catch up to them.

But this kind of thing shouldn't be too surprising given the incredible forwards on show at Anfield. Jurgen Klopp has built an attacking quintet that every team struggles to contend with.

And once again, a stat underlines that. Opta points out that Liverpool are the only club in Europe's top five leagues to have five players with at least 10 goals this season.

Mohamed Salah has 19, Diogo Jota 14, Darwin Nunez 13, Cody Gakpo 11 and Luis Diaz now has 10 to his name. Liverpool haven't had attacking options like that for some time - even with Klopp's peak team, there were only three reliable goalscorers (Divock Origi didn't score 10 goals in a season after 2016/17, for example).

Liverpool now have five and they're powering the team on four fronts this season. It's because of this firepower that they sitting at the top of the Premier League, in the Carabao Cup final, and right amongst the favourites in both the UEFA Europa League and FA Cup.

Next up is the Carabao Cup final - hopefully, they've left the 100 mark in the dust by the time it's done.
