Liverpool reportedly in a battle with Real Madrid for youngster's signature

Liverpool hold a firm interest in Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham, according to BILD, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account.

The report states that the Reds would like to sign the 18-year-old. However, Real Madrid would also like to acquire Bellingham's services.

But, both clubs are likely to wait until the summer of 2023 before making a move for the Englishman.

Bellingham is contracted until June 2025. Transfermarkt value the midfielder at €75 million.

Anfield Watch Verdict

Bellingham is a world-class talent. The midfielder has found the back of the net 10 times and registered 17 assists in 83 appearances for Borussia Dortmund's first-team.

England teammate Kalvin Phillips says that he has not seen a youngster as talented as Bellingham.

The Leeds United man told talkSPORT the following back in June 2021: “No. I’ve definitely not (seen) a 17-year-old that is as talented as what he is.

“I don’t even think I am as talented as what he is to be honest with you. He is a great player, a great lad as well and he has got the world at his feet.

“Honestly, there are no words to describe how talented he is. As you can see throughout his career at Birmingham and then his move to Dortmund, which is a massive move for a kid so young.

“The way he has performed in certain games in the Champions League against Manchester City, just on the highest stage.

“It was like he was ready to be there already for a kid so young at 17, you look at him and you can’t quite believe that he’s 17 years old, you can’t believe because he’s so big, he’s so strong, so powerful.

“He’s a very nice lad as well so it’s nice to rub shoulders with a young lad who is doing so well and now the sky’s the limit for him.”

Therefore, we would love to see Liverpool make a move for Bellingham in the near future.

But, as the aforementioned report has stated, the Reds will have competition for the 18-year-old's signature if they are to make a move for him.
