Liverpool have expressed a 'strong, strong' interest in Napoli talisman Victor Osimhen, according to reports from Naples.

Valter De Maggio, director of Kiss Kiss Napoli, has claimed that the Reds are very much in the race for the Nigerian forward, who scored 26 goals in 32 Serie A appearances last season.

The reigning Scudetto champions will now wait to see how Liverpool go about their interest, with there a possibility that the club may approach Osimhen's agent directly.

He said: "There is strong, strong interest in Victor Osimhen from Liverpool. Then we will need to understand if the Reds will put pressure on Osimhen's agent whether it is renewed or not."

Liverpool have long been tenuously linked with Osimhen, along with his club teammate Khvicha Kvaratskhelia - however, there has been little concrete evidence that Jurgen Klopp's side would make an official move for either.

However, with there an expectation that Mohamed Salah could depart Anfield next summer, Liverpool are likely to experience a large influx in cash, which could be used on attacking reinforcements.

Furthermore, a Napoli departure for Osimhen has looked increasingly likely in recent times, after the player threatened to sue the club for a TikTok they posted which appeared to mock their star striker.

The scandal has since seen Napoli's social media executive, Alessio Fortino, resign from his post - suggesting the club are doing all they can to rectify the situation and not lose their driving source of goals.
