Liverpool's top scorers at Anfield – Mohamed Salah moves past two legends

Mohamed Salah's second-half brace against Everton in the Merseyside derby bumped him up the standings for all-time scorers at Anfield.

Saturday's performance was not a classic by any means for Liverpool or Salah.

For much of the game, the Egyptian cut a frustrated figure, unable to make a breakthrough against Everton's low block having been reduced to ten men.

However, as is nearly always the case, Liverpool's number 11 stepped up when it matters, rifling a pressure penalty past Jordan Pickford to give the hosts the lead on 75 minutes, before putting putting on the after burners to keep pace with Darwin Nuñez and sweep home his second of the day, adding a cherry on top deep into stoppage time.

The strikes marked Salah's sixth and seventh of the season in just nine games, while he also became the first Premier League player to reach over 30 goal contributions (19 goals, 12 assists) in the calendar year of 2023.

Speaking about his star man after the match, Jurgen Klopp said: "Look, what I love most about Mo is… well, maybe mostly I love the numbers!

"But I think that Mo Salah played for us an incredible amount of fantastic games. Today was not his best game but then [still] being that clinical with the penalty and then staying in the situation, that's probably his biggest quality, and I love that.

"We need someone who can bring the ball over the line, and he was that again. I couldn't respect that fact more.

"It's absolutely outstanding, the numbers are crazy. He will never stop, that is his nature and that's really cool for us."

Speaking of numbers, Salah's latest double saw him leapfrog not one but two bonafide Liverpool legends on the all-time top scorers list at Anfield.

Now with 105 home goals in all competitions, the 31-year-old has moved ahead of Sir Kenny Dalglish and Steven Gerrard (both 104) into sixth place.

Salah now needs 12 more Anfield goals to chase down to level Robbie Fowler in fifth.

Ahead of them, Billy Liddell finished his career with a massive 137 Anfield goals. He sits in fourth behind Gordon Hodgson (159) and Roger Hunt (173).

Top of the tree, inevitably, is Liverpool all-time top scorer Ian Rush. Of the legendary forward's 346 goals for Liverpool (185) came at Anfield.
