Liverpool are gearing up to send Pep Lijnders a 'gift' according to Fabrizio Romano following Red Bull Salzburg's Champions League qualification.

Pep Lijnders has been getting on really well since joining Red Bull Salzburg this summer. Jurgen Klopp's former assistant has not only gotten them off to an unbeaten start, but he's also secured a sixth consecutive qualification to the Champions League.

He's also been busy bringing in former Liverpool staff and players, including Vitor Matos and Andreas Kornmayer as well as signing Bobby Clark for a £10m transfer fee.

But Lijnders' could be about to utilise his connection with Liverpool even further.

Liverpool to send Champions League gift to Pep Lijnders

One player who has been linked with a move to Red Bull Salzburg from Liverpool is Stefan Bajcetic. The Spanish U21 international only recovered from an injury that ruled him out for close to a year towards the end of last season.

He has looked promising under Arne Slot in pre-season. However, he needs regular minutes in order to get himself into the best possible shape.

That is why according to Fabrizio Romano Liverpool have agreed to send Bajectic on loan to Salzburg, where he will work alongside Lijnders and have the opportunity to play Champions League football.

Interestingly, Romano described the transaction for Bajcetic as a 'gift' sent to Lijnders.

With so many former Salzburg players having become key players at Liverpool, it's only right that the Reds now return the favour for the Austrian side.

Liverpool's recruitment team will hope that soon Lijnders will also return the favour as the next generation of exciting talent emerges from Salzburg under his wing, including the likes of Moussa Yeo, who could be an ideal future target for the Reds.
