Liverpool open to midfielder exit before deadline

Liverpool could be willing to let Leighton Clarkson leave the club on loan once more before the end of the January transfer window, providing that the destination is the right one for him.

Clarkson joined Blackburn Rovers at the start of the campaign with a view to him potentially following in Harvey Elliott's footsteps in terms of the progress he made at Ewood Park.

However, it didn't quite go to plan and the Reds decided to recall him earlier this month, in order to reassess things.

Indeed, according to the Liverpool Echo, there's a chance he could move away once more but only if the right club comes along:

Anfield Watch Verdict

Clarkson is clearly a talented young footballer and Liverpool do think that he could get towards the first team but he obviously needs more minutes and experience.

Heading out on loan would be good for him but the club needs to be right, especially after a tough spell at Blackburn where it was surprising it didn't work.

We'll see what the next few days bring...
