Liverpool on red alert after Bayern superstar Jamal Musiala rejects contract
Liverpool are on red alert after reported target Jamal Musiala turned down a contract offer from Bayern Munich - potentially in favour of a move to the Premier League.
The Reds are joined by fellow title rivals Manchester City in the race for the German midfielder, who has earned wide acclaim as a possible future Ballon d'Or winner.
According to the Daily Star, both clubs had representatives in attendance to watch Musiala during Bayern's 3-0 defeat to Xabi Alonso's Bayer Leverkusen in February - a major blow to the Bavarian outfit's push for a 12th successive Bundesliga title.
Speculation has ramped up after it came out that Musiala had been offered a £150,000 per week contract to stay at Bayern, only to reject the proposal.
Sparking rumours of a potential exit, many are touting a return to the country Musiala grew up in, having come through Chelsea's academy before upping sticks to Munich in 2019.
The Blues are said to be interested in a reunion with their former youth product - but with involvement in European competition looking highly unlikely for next season, Todd Boehly doesn't stand much of a chance of persuading Musiala to pick Stamford Bridge over the Etihad or Anfield.
If Musiala was seek pastures new, he would cost a pretty penny for any potential suitor.
Bayern would reportedly seek a fee of at least £80m for the 21-year-old, who would demand weekly wages of around £200,000.
