Liverpool 'on alert' for Jarrod Bowen

Jarrod Bowen is on Liverpool's list of potential replacements should Mohamed Salah leave, according to a report.

The West Ham star has started the 2023/24 season in fine form with five goals and an assist in seven Premier League outings.

The 26-year-old has also been nominated for the Premier League's Player of the Month award for September, alongside Salah.

TalkSPORT claim that contract extension negotiations between West Ham and Bowen are moving 'slowly', with Liverpool alerted to the situation.

Bowen's current deal is due to expire in 2025, meaning next summer may be the last opportunity for the Hammers to recoup a decent transfer fee for one of their biggest assets, if new terms can't be agreed.

It is reported that the Hammers remain 'hopeful' Bowen will commit his future to the club, despite the delay in talks.

Liverpool are not the only club keeping an eye on the situation, with Newcastle also interested according to TalkSPORT.

Last month, the Athletic reported that the Reds have been watching Bowen 'for a number of seasons', while discussing potential options in a post-Salah environment.

Whether Liverpool act on their interest will likely depend on the winger's contract status. If he opts to sign a new deal, that will likely make him prohibitively expensive for the club's recruitment policy.

However, should Bowen make it clear that he will not be extending his stay at the London Stadium, the Reds may have an opportunity to secure one of the Premier League's best forwards in the prime years of his career at a favourable price.

Back in June, the Daily Mail reported earlier this summer that West Ham have offered to double the England international's money to stay at the club.

The same report highlights that Bowen is "happy at West Ham and is a new father to twin daughters with partner Dani Dyer."
