Liverpool are having to think seriously about the long-term health of their squad as they transition into a new era under Arne Slot.

Mo Salah is 32, on the last year of his contract and facing an unmatchable offer from Saudi Arabia. Darwin Nuñez is seemingly not well-liked by Slot and could be facing a move away.

And with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk’s contracts expiring in the summer also, Liverpool face the realistic possibility of losing three of the best players in their positions in the world for a grand total of zero British pounds sterling.

Links to new attackers are popping up at an alarming rate because of this. Whilst Viktor Gyokeres would be welcome, he would certainly be expensive. Dario Osorio looks a good talent but his immediate output is still unknown.

What about Omar Marmoush?

CaughtOffside’s report that attacking target Omar Marmoush would reportedly only cost around £25m from Eintracht Frankfurt, then, is incredibly welcome news.

Marmoush has emerged as a target for Liverpool in recent days. However, he is also emerging as a target for Manchester United, West Ham and Nottingham Forest, whilst Arsenal have been tracking him for a longer time.

Manchester United and West Ham are reportedly looking into Marmoush as an option as early as this January. Both clubs are unhappy with their recent additions in attacking positions and are aiming to rectify that by adding again.

As a result, the competition may boost the price up. The possibility of signing the Egyptian may be able to relate into the contract negotiations with Liverpool’s current Egyptian icon Salah, and able to play off each other - Marmoush can play with his legendary compatriot, Salah can see Liverpool are serious about accommodating him.

The 25-year old dragged his Frankfurt side to a 3-3 draw with Bayern Munich at the weekend. He found the back of the net twice, including an equaliser in the 94th minute. The Egyptian found his run in behind Bayern’s high line and dispatched the ball calmly across Manuel Neuer.

That level of play against a giant of European football is exactly what Liverpool will need if they are to continue competing at the top level as they have been for so long now.
