Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool seem to be building the squad for the future, especially with the reported interest in some of Europe's highest-rated teenagers.
Another player we can now add to the list of reported Liverpool targets under the age of 20 is Barcelona's Gavi.
The 17-year-old, who signed for Barcelona from Real Betis' youth setup in 2015, is a massive fan favourite at the Camp Nou despite his young age.
Gavi seems to be one of Xavi's first-choice midfielders, along with another Spanish wonderkid, Pedri, who Liverpool were linked with before he signed his new contract last year.
The original report comes from the very reliable Gerard Romero, who claims that Liverpool have offered the Spaniard a salary of €6m per season, roughly €115k per week.
Anfield Watch Verdict
This transfer saga is starting to heat up massively. Romero is the latest of reliable Spanish outlets/journalists to say that Liverpool are the main club bidding for Gavi's signature.
More recently, Spanish publication Mundo Deportivio revealed that Liverpool were among a host of clubs interested in signing the midfielder.
However, with Romero's news, it seems like the Reds have become the first club to pull the trigger on trying to pry him away from Spain.
Despite Gavi's contract ending in 2023, he has a release clause of €50m, something that a lot of journalists say clubs will have to pay to sign him this summer, despite only having a year remaining on his Barcelona contract.
We have seen this tactic used by Barcelona youngsters a lot in the past to pressure the club into giving them the wages they want.
However, Liverpool's interest seems extremely genuine and it will definitely be a story to keep an eye on in the coming weeks.
