Liverpool star Harvey Elliott gets NFL surprise from Avonte Maddox
After Harvey Elliott delivered two assists for Liverpool against Arsenal he was given a present by a NFL star.
The Reds had their second pre-season game in the United States against one of their title rivals from last season, Arsenal.
It was the first real test after La Liga side Real Betis failed to cause them too many problems as Dominik Szoboszlai scored the winner.
He was involved again against Mikel Arteta’s men but the standout was Elliott who sumptuously set up the two goals.
The former Fulham man gave fans an inkling of what is set to come in the new system as a number 10 under Arne Slot.
ELLIOTT LEAVES STADIUM WITH NFL JERSEY
The opening game of the USA tour was in Pittsburgh and Slot’s men played their second friendly at the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.
NFL side Philadelphia Eagles play their home games at the ground and one of their players, Avonte Maddox was in attendance to give Elliott his jersey.
Maddox has been in the NFL for six years and the Philadelphia Eagles have been his only team in that time. He has made 38 starts with 64 outings overall.
It was a nice souvenir for Elliott to take away as he travels with his teammates to the Williams-Brice stadium for their next stop on the USA tour.
In Columbia, they will play against famous rivals Manchester United. Erik ten Hag’s side have played four friendlies so far, winning two, but they have been dealt a big blow losing Leny Yoro through injury.
After that, the USA tour is done with a return home for the first game of the Arne Slot era at Anfield against Sevilla up next.
There have been reports of another friendly game being set up at Anfield against more Spanish opposition in Las Palmas, but that would be behind closed doors.
