Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says Arne Slot is a 'good coach' and a 'good guy' with it now overwhelmingly likely that the Dutchman will replace him in the Anfield hotseat.

Slot, 45, confirmed his intention to move to Liverpool on Thursday night ahead of current club Feyenoord's Eredivisie victory against Go Ahead Eagles, which secured their place in next season's Champions League.

Feyenoord's players have now been given a week off with it expected that negotiations between the Rotterdam side and Liverpool conclude this weekend.

The Dutch outfit want around £13 million in compensation for Slot and at least two members of his staff, and his current contract expires in 2026.

Last week he won the KNVB Beker (Dutch cup) to add to the Eredivisie title he won last season.

Klopp announced in January that he would be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season, sparking an intensive search that involved Xabi Alonso and Ruben Amorim.

However, the Reds at last seem to have got their man with Slot impressing club higher-ups with his front-foot football and player development.

Klopp added that he wasn't involved in picking his successor and also that he was a big fan of how Feyenoord play.

Klopp admires Slot

"I didn't read anything but Arne has said something,” he told his pre-match press conference ahead of Liverpool's visit to West Ham on Saturday at 12:30 in the Premier League.

“I don’t know anything about it, I am not involved in the process, just to clarify, club-wise. I would like a lot about it, that if he is the one, he wants to take the job and is desperate, 'let’s go for it!', excited.

“I like the way his team play football, and I can say definitely all the things I hear about him as a guy. Good guy. Some people I know know him. I don’t know him yet but some people tell me that he’s a really good guy and I like that a lot.

“Good coach, good guy. It sounds all really good to me."
