'I hope so' - Trent Alexander-Arnold reveals his Arne Slot Liverpool expectations

Trent Alexander-Arnold insists he is optimistic about working under Arne Slot when the new Liverpool head coach arrives at Anfield.

The right-back had been a mainstay of the Jurgen Klopp era on Merseyside, appearing over 300 times since his first-team debut back in 2016.

He cut an emotional figure last Sunday during Klopp’s Anfield farewell, describing the ex-Liverpool manager as a person who changed his life.

With a contract expiring in 2025 it has been speculated that the England international might opt to leave the club for a new challenge and it’s known that Real Madrid are interested

The 25-year-old - an investor in the Alpine F1 team -  was in Monte Carlo for the Monaco Grand Prix and told Sky Sports he was hoping for a ‘smooth transition’ into the Slot era.

“I hope so, that’s all we can hope,” he said

“I have trust in the club and who we've appointed so as a player that's all you can ask for is to have trust in what the higher-ups have brought in and I'm sure it will be a smooth transition.”

Slot was announced as a successor to Klopp on Monday, ending a three-year spell with Feyenoord in the Netherlands.

During his spell in charge in Rotterdam, Slot won the Eredivisie title, the KNVB Beker (Dutch cup) and was twice crowned Dutch manager of the year.

The 45-year-old moves to Anfield with a reputation for attractive football and getting the best out of the players at his disposal.

In Alexander-Arnold he will have one of the world’s pre-eminent right backs and a midfield playmaker rolled into one.
