Liverpool man reportedly fears for his future at Anfield

Liverpool midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain fears for his future at Anfield, according to the Daily Mail, as cited by Anfield Watch's Twitter account.

The report states that the Englishman, who has one year left on his current deal, has not been approached regarding a new contract.

However, the club are yet to make a decision about Oxlade-Chamberlain's future.

Anfield Watch Verdict

Liverpool signed Oxlade-Chamberlain from Arsenal for a transfer fee of £34.20 million.

Since then, the midfielder has scored 17 goals and registered 14 assists in 133 appearances for Liverpool's first-team.

So, Oxlade-Chamberlain has been a decent signing for Liverpool. To be fair, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp was confident that the 28-year-old would show his qualities at some stage.

As quoted by The Guardian, the German said the following after Oxlade-Chamberlain joined the club: “I hear a lot of talk about positions but let’s talk about the player; he is someone with really good abilities who always gives everything for his team.

"A player that is positive and willing to take risks to try and make positive things happen.

"He may still be young but he has a lot of experience in the Premier League, Champions League and for his country.

"Already he is a very, very good player and I think he has the mentality and desire to get even better – and that excites me."

But, there is no denying that his days at Anfield are coming to an end.

Despite being fit, the Englishman has only started in 17 games for the Reds this season.

Therefore, we would not be surprised if Oxlade-Chamberlain looked for more opportunities elsewhere when the summer transfer window opens.

Also, as we have already pointed out, the midfielder is only 28 years of age. His career is far from over.
