Lisandro Martinez has sparked fury amongst Manchester United fans by posting a controversial photo on social media, the day after Liverpool’s dismantling of his team.

The defender posed next to his opponent Alexis Mac Allister as they both smiled for the camera on their way to Argentina’s camp for the upcoming international break.

United fans flooded the comments section on Instagram to express their displeasure at Martinez's post less than 24 hours after being humiliated by their arch-rivals.

Liverpool demolished their rivals 3-0 at Old Trafford on Sunday, in a result that is naturally hard to accept for United fans. But Martinez’s questionable decision to upload the picture of himself and his fellow countryman suggests he’s already forgotten the defeat.

One fan said: “Licha I love you to bits, but this is not it man! You have been sh*t all season. You play for Manchester United and we have just been smacked around, come on Licha! Love you though ❤️.”

Another supporter angrily commented: “What’s this guy doing? The whole Manchester United fans and owners are fuming and you have the audacity to do this? Do you even have sense, you absolute helmet?”

The pair are part of the upcoming Argentina squad who are preparing to face Chile and Colombia in their World Cup qualifiers.

Martinez and Mac Allister know each other outside football and the fierce club rivalry they're both involved in, but it's a severe lack of judgement by the United defender to post so soon after the Liverpool game.

Mac Allister set to face Diaz

During the upcoming international break, a repeat of this summer's Copa America final is set to take place as Argentina will face Colombia on 10th September.

It will see Mac Allister lock horns with Liverpool team-mate Luis Diaz, as two of Liverpool's most impressive players so far this season face each other.

Diaz will be looking to get revenge on Mac Allister after Argentina edged out Colombia in a narrow 1-0 win to secure their continental triumph.
