Former Liverpool forward John Aldridge has revealed his thoughts on the Reds' new signing Luis Diaz.

When Liverpool signed Luis Diaz from FC Porto in January, most people were expecting him to take some time to adapt to Jurgen Klopp's intense style of play.

However, that has not been the case. Every time we have seen the Colombian play so far he has been unbelievable, producing performances like he has been at the club for years.

These impressive displays earned him a starting position in Liverpool's EFL Cup final against Chelsea on Sunday.

The 24-year-old snatched the opportunity with both hands and was probably Liverpool's best player on the day.

After the game, former Liverpool striker John Aldridge wrote in his Liverpool Echo column about Diaz's performance at Wembley.

“Luis Diaz was absolutely electric during Sunday’s cup final win over Chelsea,” said Aldridge.

“Without putting too much pressure on his shoulders, he has settled in really well and already looks to be the real deal.

“He is a player we could have for a number of years and he will only get better, which is an added bonus.

“It takes a lot of players time to adapt to English football, but he has made light work of it after arriving from Portugal.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

The little we've seen from Luis Diaz has been very promising. The Colombian seems to already have stricken up a partnership with Andy Robertson on the left-hand side too.

Against Chelsea, the 24-year-old was unbelievable and during the game, he looked like the only player who was going to score.

When he was substituted, Liverpool's attack was on a noticeable decline and it didn't have the same energy/penetration compared to when Diaz was on the pitch.

With the Colombian joining Diogo Jota in Liverpool's new age attack, the Reds' future upfront looks very promising to say the least.
