Liverpool are one of a number of clubs monitoring RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, with the 20-year-old's release clause having been revealed.

While the Reds are yet to line up a sporting director or a replacement for Jurgen Klopp come the end of the season, they are likely still monitoring a number of transfer targets ahead of the summer.

The current Premier League leaders are expected to strengthen their backline, notably central defence, but they could also look to bolster their attacking options.

One of those that is now being suggested as a potential transfer target for the Reds is Leipzig forward Benjamin Sesko, the Slovenian striker having made the move from RB Salzburg last summer.

The 25-cap international has impressed this season for Die Roten Bullen, netting ten goals in 28 appearances for the German side.

Sesko is blessed with great pace and a 6'4 frame, making him a menacing attacking option. At just 20, he has enormous potential to blossom into a world-beating centre-forward.

According to Bild, Liverpool are one of the clubs "keeping an eye" on the exciting Sesko this summer, who boasts a €50m (£43m) release clause in his contract that's valid until 2028.

However, rather unsurprisingly, the attacker is also being monitored by Arsenal and Manchester City in the Premier League, with Barcelona and Milan interested on the continent.

Liverpool have done business with Leipzig before, including the signings of Ibrahima Konate and most recently Dominik Szoboszlai, and Sesko could be a great value option at just £43m.

However, it remains to be seen how interested Liverpool genuinely are in Sesko, with the club's summer transfer plans hugely dependent on the new sporting director and, most importantly, head coach.

Xabi Alonso is the number one candidate to replace Klopp, with Sesko someone he is likely to know well from the Bundesliga.
