Liverpool centre-back Ibrahima Konate has given his thoughts on the club.

The Reds signed the Frenchman from RB Leipzig for a transfer fee of €40 million back in the summer of 2021.

Since then, Konate has made 29 appearances for Liverpool's first-team. The 23-year-old has also helped the Reds win the League Cup, FA Cup and Community Shield.

Having spent a season at Anfield, Konate has every right to give his opinion on the club. The defender believes that Liverpool is an amazing place to play football.

“Liverpool is an amazing place and a mythical club,” Konate told Onze Mondial, as quoted by This Is Anfield.

“I remember, before I signed, I had the coach on the phone. He said to me: ‘The day you sign for Liverpool, it will not be the same for you, your life will change. Wherever you travel in the world, you will see for yourself what I am telling you'.

In my head I was thinking: ‘OK, fine, it’s an incredible club with a great history, but chill’.

“I travelled, I went to Zanzibar this summer, and I was taking at least 50 photos a day. And then his sentence came back into my head. I thought: ‘This is insane’.

“As a kid, I knew Liverpool was a big club, but I didn’t imagine it like this. It’s way above my expectations in every way.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

Konate is spot on. Liverpool is a brilliant place to play football. The supporters get right behind the players.

On another note, Konate, 23, is a player that could be a mainstay in the club's XI for many years to come.

The centre-back is young and talented. Also, Konate is contracted until the conclusion of the 2025-26 campaign.

So, Liverpool clearly have a fair bit of faith in the Frenchman.
