Liverpool transfer news: Reds in 'advanced discussions' for target

Liverpool have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Bournemouth centre-back Lloyd Kelly this summer and are reportedly in 'advanced discussions' to sign the 25-year-old.

With Jurgen Klopp having announced his decision to leave the Reds at the end of the season, Liverpool have an uncertain summer ahead as they try to recruit a successor to the 56-year-old.

Change in the dugout could also impact the club's transfer plans in the summer, but Liverpool are expected to be in the market for a central defender regardless of the new manager.

Plenty of names have been touted, with the Reds particularly interested in signing a left-footed centre-back who can also cover at left-back.

Sporting CP defender Goncalo Inacio has most frequently been linked with Anfield, but the Reds are also admirers of Bournemouth's Lloyd Kelly.

The defender will be a free agent come the end of the season and would also fill a homegrown slot for the Reds, with Football Insider claiming that he's in no rush to decide his future and is not interested in signing a pre-contract agreement with any foreign clubs at present.

On top of this, journalist Seb Ecrivain has claimed that both Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are in 'advanced discussions' to sign Kelly this summer, with the former England U21 international refusing to extend his stay with Bournemouth.

Kelly has made 130 appearances for the Cherries since making a lucrative switch from Bristol City back in 2019 and has accumulated plenty of Premier League experience.

Signing a player of such potential for absolutely nothing this summer would be an astute piece of business from the Reds, with Kelly not the only free agent Liverpool are targeting.

The Reds are also eyeing a move for Fulham centre-back Tosin Adarabioyo according to multiple reports, the 26-year-old former Manchester City academy product attracting interest from Tottenham as well.

Adarabioyo's current deal with the Cottagers is up in the summer and the England youth international looks set to leave west London in the next transfer window.
