Gary Neville makes BOLD prediction ahead of Man United vs Liverpool

With Manchester United taking on Liverpool at Old Trafford this Sunday, Gary Neville has made a strong prediction as to how the game will go.

One of English football’s biggest games in any season, United and Liverpool have made contrasting starts to the season. Whereas the Reds have looked fairly dominant against Brentford and in the second half against Ipswich, Erik ten Hag’s side needed a late goal to beat Fulham on the opening night and fell to a stoppage time winner against Brighton in their second game.

With ten Hag already getting questions about his future in the dugout in Manchester, it could be that a defeat for United spells yet more pressure, especially if Liverpool win by more than one goal.

Now Gary Neville has shared his view on what he believes will play out on the Old Trafford pitch this Sunday afternoon.

Speaking to Sky Sports alongside Jamie Carragher, Neville said: "I think Erik ten Hag has a knack for just sort of finding the right result at the right time, I worry about him a little bit on Sunday if [United] were to lose badly."

Neville continued: "But I don’t see that on Sunday, I don’t think it’ll be a big defeat for United on Sunday by any stretch of the imagination actually, I wouldn’t say I’m confident but they have a habit of turning up in the right moments for Erik ten Hag and getting results  when he needs one."

It would be fair to say Neville is hedging his bets so as not to end up with egg on his face and he’s certainly not getting carried away, but it is nevertheless a bold suggestion that he doesn’t envisage a scenario where United could lose badly considering their uncertain form, especially given Liverpool’s dominant displays so far this season.
