"Liverpool, for me" - Pundit names Chelsea player that would fit in at Anfield

Pundit Tony Cascarino believes that Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher would be a good signing for Liverpool.

The 22-year-old was loaned out to Crystal Palace last summer.

Gallagher has been performing well for the Eagles this season. The England international has scored eight goals and registered five assists in 30 appearances.

He has also been averaging a WhoScored player rating of 7.26 across the 2021-22 Premier League campaign.

Looking beyond this season, Cascarino is under the impression that Gallagher would be a fine addition to Jurgen Klopp's squad.

However, the 59-year-old conceded that Chelsea would never sell a talent like Gallagher to Liverpool.

Cascarino told talkSPORT the following: “Conor Gallagher is an outstanding attacking midfielder who always looks like he’s going to get a goal or make an assist. Liverpool, for me, if they had a player like that as well adding him behind their front three, with his ability to get goals.

“Chelsea would never sell him to Liverpool, but they’d do really well with him. Conor Gallagher will get goals. Whether or not he will get his chance at Chelsea, I don’t know.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

There is no denying that Gallagher would be a decent signing for Liverpool. As we have pointed out, the midfielder is a fine talent.

But, Cascarino is spot on. Liverpool and Chelsea are rivals. Therefore, we can't see a world where Gallagher is transferred from Stamford Bridge to Anfield.

When Gallagher is running around for the Blues in the years to come (providing he gets a consistent opportunity), the Reds are going to have their work cut out trying to stop him.

The 22-year-old is a serious talent and we only see him getting better over time.
