Liverpool transfers: Federico Chiesa new shirt number REVEALED
With the official confirmation of Federico Chiesa’s reported £10.9m move to Liverpool, what shirt number has the Italian forward taken?
So far in his senior football career, Chiesa has worn at least four different numbers for club and country. Throughout his time at Fiorentina where he started his senior career, he wore the number 25, before signing for Juventus and taking the number 22 shirt.
Ahead of the 2022/23 season, Chiesa switched to the number 7 shirt, and when turning out for the national team he has almost exclusively worn the number 14.

Famously Chiesa’s father, Enrico, wore the number 20 during his most successful spells as a professional footballer with Parma and Fiorentina in the 90s, although his shirt number history with the Italian national team was much more varied. When Enrico scored for Italy at Anfield during Euro 96, he was wearing the number 19 shirt.
Which numbers has Chiesa chosen?
Before today at Liverpool, the first-team squad numbers available were 6, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 22, 23, 24 and 25.
As we’ve established already, Chiesa favoured at least three of those shirt numbers at different points in his career.
And given his propensity for wearing the number 14 shirt with Italy for at least the past five years, that is indeed the number he has chosen upon signing for Liverpool.
That number has been unoccupied since Jordan Henderson left the club for Al-Ettifaq last summer to work under Steven Gerrard.
Chiesa signs for Liverpool
The new Liverpool No.14 played 131 times for Juventus and has won the European Championships with his nation Italy.
Chiesa is coming off the back of a season where he played in 33 of Juve’s 38 Serie A matches and scored 10 goals, also providing a further three assists.
The forward has faced some injury problems over the past few seasons, most notably missing nine months due to a cruciate ligament tear in 2022, but after a solid season last campaign Liverpool supporters will be hoping the Italian’s injury worries are behind him.
