Liverpool came up against AC Milan at the San Siro earlier this month.

With that being the case, Reds centre-back Ibrahima Konate went head-to-head with Rossoneri striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The Frenchman kept the 40-year-old quiet. With that being the case, Ibrahimovic has recently praised Konate.

As quoted by LFC Transfer Room's Twitter account, the forward said the following: “I asked to exchange shirts with Liverpool defender Konate. "He won all the fights with me on the ground and in the air. I told him that he will be a great defender in the future and that he [should] remember my words well.”

The Reds won the aforementioned Champions League group stage clash 2-1.

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

Liverpool signed Konate from RB Leipzig for a transfer fee of €40 million back in the summer. The centre-back has only made nine appearances for the club's first-team.

With that being the case, we are yet to see the best of Konate.

However, the Frenchman was very good against AC Milan/Ibrahimovic. Konate registered a WhoScored player rating of 7.09 against the Serie A side.

Therefore, the centre-back certainly deserved some praise from Ibrahimovic. Konate is only 22 years of age.

With that being the case, Liverpool's No.5 is far from the finished article. On another note, the Reds will come up against Inter Milan in the last-16 of the Champions League.
