"You try not to listen" - Jordan Henderson on Liverpool's critics

Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson has opened up on how he deals with criticism.

The Reds have had a slow start to the 2022-23 campaign. In the Premier League, Liverpool have only accumulated 10 points from a possible 21.

With that being the case, plenty of media outlets and social media users have had plenty to say about the club's recent form.

However, Henderson has revealed that he does not read the criticism.

As quoted by Anfield Watch, he told BT Sport the following: "Some players need an arm around their shoulder and others need a kick up the backside. On the pitch it is never personal, but off the pitch you need those leaders - it is all about staying together and we have to use our experience.

Henderson further added: "You try not to listen to social media especially when you are in a difficult position - you have to just try and stay focused - but it is not easy and it can hurt players at times, but you have to try and use that as fuel to prove people wrong."

Anfield Watch Verdict

Henderson's approach is one that many footballers should take up. It would allow plenty of them to stay sane.

On another note, Henderson was very good against Rangers at Anfield last night. The midfielder registered a WhoScored player rating of 6.90 for his performance against the Scottish Premiership side.

Liverpool secured a 2-0 victory over Rangers to move one step closer to qualifying for the Champions League knockout stages.

We wish the Reds all the best for the remainder of the campaign and beyond.
