"You get your rewards in the end" - Jordan Henderson post-Aston Villa clash

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has praised his team for defeating Aston Villa at Villa Park last night.

The 2-1 victory keeps the Reds in the Premier League title race. Liverpool are level on points with league leaders Manchester City. The Citizens possess a better goal difference.

But, Pep Guardiola's side have a game in hand. Despite that being the case, Henderson was still beaming after last night's result.

As quoted by Anfield Watch on Twitter, he told the club's official website the following: "It’s not easy to win games, especially in the Premier League, and I think the boys have been incredible over a long period of time, stayed together in important moments within the games, and you get your rewards in the end, which we did tonight.

"We are using all the squad and I thought the boys that came in tonight were brilliant. Let’s prepare now for a big game (FA Cup final against Chelsea at Wembley Stadium) on Saturday."

Anfield Watch Verdict

Henderson is spot on. It is not easy winning games in the Premier League. There is a reason why England's first division is considered the best in the world.

On another note, Henderson was on the pitch for 60 minutes against Aston Villa and played reasonably well. The midfielder registered a WhoScored player rating of 6.78 against the Villans.

Henderson has had a solid 2021-22 campaign thus far. He has scored three goals and registered six assists in 52 appearances.

Henderson has lifted the Carabao Cup. If all goes to plan, the captain could also lift the Premier League title, Champions League and FA Cup this season.

But, that is probably asking a lot. Nevertheless, it is an exciting time to be a Liverpool supporter. There is nothing better than seeing your team compete for trophies.
