Liverpool's Kostas Tsimikas has waxed lyrical about teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold after the right-back's impressive performance against Manchester City at the weekend.

Alexander-Arnold was in inspired form for the Reds on Saturday as Jurgen Klopp's side recorded a well-earned point away at Man City.

Despite falling behind to Erling Haaland's opener, it was Alexander-Arnold who popped up with the equaliser ten minutes from time. The 25-year-old collected a pass from Mohamed Salah in the penalty area before arrowing home a low effort beyond Ederson to level proceedings.

Having rescued a point for the Reds, Alexander-Arnold was named man of the match following his impressive performance.

Teammate Tsimikas was quick to heap praise on his fellow full-back after the trip to the Etihad, the 27-year-old struggling to find the words to describe Alexander-Arnold's quality.

"Of course he is confident, we are Scousers you know!," Tsimikas, who is affectionately known as the 'Greek Scouser', joked. "I can't imagine how calm he was because if that was me, I couldn't stay calm!

"The player he is, you can't describe it. Everybody in the football world knows. It was a very good goal, very important and I am very happy for him and for the team."

Reflecting on the match, Tsimikas added: "It is a very difficult place to come against one of the best teams in the world. A very tough place to come and play football, but at the end the only thing that matters in football is the three points.

"At the end we get one, we will deal with it and we will go with the same hunger, because I think it's too early to talk about a title race. We will go with it and we will fight harder."

Tsimikas impressed himself against Man City despite some justifiable criticism of his recent performances. The defender was largely faultless throughout at the Etihad, offering defensive solidity down the left flank and an occasional option on the overlap going forward.

The former Olympiacos man could have been replaced by Joe Gomez in Manchester, who featured at left-back against Luton earlier in the season, but he rose to the occasion on Saturday, as did Alexander-Arnold.
