"You cannot say that he has been consistent" - Pundit on Harvey Elliott
Pundit Paul Robinson has recently spoken about Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott.
The 19-year-old has had an up and down start to the 2022-23 campaign.
Elliott has averaged a WhoScored player rating of 6.72 in the early stages of the season.
With that being the case, Robinson has labelled the midfielder as inconsistent.
“He has played in every game this season but his performances have been indifferent,” the 42-year-old told Football Insider.
“You cannot say that he has been consistent. He is a great option for Gareth Southgate to have but I think it is a bit early for him.
“He is probably a victim of circumstance. There is a lot of players in that position.
“I think we will see Elliott come into the senior England setup next year after the World Cup.”
Anfield Watch Verdict
We do agree with Robinson that Elliott has been a little bit inconsistent in the early stages of the season.
But, he is only a youngster. Therefore, we don't expect Elliott to be the star player for Liverpool on a weekly basis.
The reality is, the 19-year-old is still learning about the game. As Elliott continues to improve, he will eventually become more consistent.
Because of the midfielder's age, he has plenty of time left in his career to fulfill his dreams. So, hopefully Elliott isn't putting too much pressure on himself.
We wish him all the best for the remainder of the season.
