Ibrahima Konate appears to be a major doubt to feature for Liverpool during their mammoth Premier League clash with Manchester City this afternoon.

Questions have surrounded Konate's fitness after the Frenchman was forced off with a niggle during the Reds' 5-1 win over Sparta Prague in midweek.

Jurgen Klopp was unable to give a conclusive answer on whether the defender would be available to take part against City, stating in Friday's press conference that he would have to wait for scan results.

However, things don't look promising for Liverpool after Konate was spotted entering Anfield alongside confirmed absentees Curtis Jones and Trent Alexander-Arnold, not arriving with the rest of the team bus.

According to the Liverpool Echo's Ian Doyle, this clearly indicates that he will not be part of the squad to face City this afternoon.

Either Jarell Quansah or Joe Gomez will be expected fill in at centre-half alongside Reds skipper Virgil van Dijk - with the latter of the two confirmed to be available by Klopp after also coming off with a problem in Prague.

Team news is expected at 2:45pm GMT, with kick-off at Anfield scheduled for an hour later.
